This line will contribute with the perspective of measures/initiatives to combat social inequality, and the socio-cultural processes within martial arts. Drawing on insights from sociology, social psychology and cultural sociology, BRISPO further investigates the cultural processes associated with how young people search for, and explore a social identity within martial arts contexts. This approach will allow to understand how young people negotiate social identities, build resilience, and develop a sense of belonging, while also examining how inequalities (linked to gender, ethnicity, class or other markers) affect their access to and experiences within different contexts. It connects well-being not only to individual psychological outcomes, but also to broader socio-cultural and structural dynamics.
