Tessa Commers

Tessa graduated in 2014 with a Master in Sociology (University of Leuven), specializing in cultural sociology. She holds an additional Master’s degree in social law, obtained at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Since 2016 she is working at the department of movement and sport sciences where she can combine her sociological background with her interest in sport. In October 2016 she started her PhD about sport as a developmental tool for persons in socially deprived situations. More specifically, she will investigate the development of skills through sport and physical activity. Thereby special attention goes to socially vulnerable youth who are not in education, employment or training. The intention is to discover what specific activities, for whom and how they can have a positive impact on their employability.
