Margot Ricour
Biography
Margot works is a PhD candidate at the research unit Sport & Society of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She graduated in 2018 with a Master in Business Engineering (at KU Leuven). After graduating, she worked for one year in the financial sector. In 2019, she started her PhD for the research platform of Sport (OPS) at VUB in collaboration with KU Leuven and UGent where she can combine her economic background with her passion for sports. Her PhD research investigates the quality of youth sports in Flanders. The ultimate objective of this PhD research is to evaluate the effectiveness of the current sports policy in Flanders and in particular the effectiveness of the policy focus ‘youth sports’ in order to be able to monitor this policy. How does the current policy focus lead to the intended outcome: a qualitative youth sport offer that increases youth sport participation? This PhD examines the organized sport sector, i.e. the Flemish sports federations and their sporting clubs.
